The challenge
A graduation gift has to be specific to one person and still look like a designed object rather than a certificate. Hair, hijab and gown colour change from graduate to graduate; the layout cannot.
The approach
The graduate is drawn from behind, so the piece is about the day rather than a likeness, and small changes to hair or hijab make each one personal. Purple watercolour florals sit either side, the name is set in a script, and the degree, university and year sit beneath in small capitals, always in the same position whatever the length of the course title. Framed in black, white or gold.
The outcome
Made to order through the Etsy shop, singly and in sets for groups of graduates.
